Scott Burgess, Captain

Mr. Burgess’s education consists of an associate degree in Fire Science. He has over 35 years of experience as a Firefighter/Paramedic/Hazardous Material Specialist. His assignments have included fire suppression, marine unit, EMS, and the Nashville Fire Department’s training academy. Currently he is assigned as a Captain on an engine company. He has 20 years of teaching experience in the Fire/EMS field. Scott is a lead instructor at the Department of Homeland Security’s Center for Domestic Preparedness.
Mr. Burgess has responded to multiple major multiple casualty incidents, all hazards, and multi-day incidents. These include a multiple fatality nursing home fire, catastrophic, region wide flooding, multiple tornado strikes in a major metropolitan area, and countless fire and hazmat events. He was the initial incident commander for the Nashville 2020 Christmas Day Bombing.
For these incidents, Mr. Burgess served in various roles within the incident command system.
